You’re right, BLD may not have been “great” in the way we might have hoped, but it’s always had potential. The idea of “Make BLD Great Again” isn’t about pretending it was perfect from the start, it’s about focusing on its true value and leveraging what’s already there.

And yes, exactly, removing IST is part of the plan to help focus resources where they matter: on BLD. It’s not about salvaging IST; it’s about clearing the path to make BLD shine by removing distractions.

I dont think just keeping whats already there would be too much of a distraction that Agoric couldnt shine. IST is the only mintable stalbecoin left in the cosmos!

CMST, USK all died and Interprotocol survived it all because its one of the best and you want to salvage that (I tell you I only stake BLD because I like Interprotocol, if you remove it I have no reason to stake BLD anymore).

But again and again i repeat: IST can help BLD be great!

IST as a stable gas fee token gives advantages for Agoric, that noone Blockchain has.

IST generates fees for BLD stakers and stimulate them stake more.

And this helps secure the network.

And more secure network, more dapps want to be on it.

More dapps means more IST fees for BLD stakers.

As a financial mathematician, I see this from an other perspective: imo, looking purely at the benefits of using IST at this point is far from sufficient. A greater benefit for many users arises solely from the possibility of having a favourable, less time-dependent way of obtaining liquidity through liquidstaked collateral. The costs for minting an overcollaterised stablecoin are, in my opinion, significantly lower for the protocol than those of the RWA providers. It must be possible to offer this on a sensible, cost-neutral basis for the benefit of the entire ecosystem, in particular Liquidstake providers and their users, especially if what I consider to be a well-functioning implementation already exists. We spend all this time looking for sensible use cases and then this very thing is cancelled. Quite unsatisfying.

Thanks for the comments about Inter. I really like a lot about Inter. It did not in the end succeed well enough, but it was a good bet with a lot of effort behind it. In the current environment, it just cannot carry it’s own weight (and would require enormous growth to do so). The code will still be available should the market shift and someone wants to build/deploy from it.

As for staking BLD, I hope you like what Orchestration makes possible, because we want to bring BLD to the forefront for that. So please keep staking!

I need to pay back my IST now with the sunset of Inter Protocol, I need to get stable coins for that.
And I will use $BLD that I am already unstaking and need to sell at this market conditions because of you, so yeah I am not an Agoric community member anymore, sad because I was the biggest fan of Inter Protocol. All the development and costs for nothing. so in 21 days I need to sell 20,000 $BLD so who wants $BLD can buy it then ceaper.
